Harry Potter in USJ!

Yes! In 2014, a new themed land will debut at Universal Studios Japan! 
''The Wizarding World of HARRY POTTER''

It's officially announced that Universal Studios and Warner Bros made their plans to bring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to Japan! This will be the first outside the U.S.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to see it! I've already been in USJ before, but this is a very good reason to go back again!

New Year's in London!

I really wanted to celebrate the New Year in a foreign country. And so we did.

Where are we going? What is our budget?
Actually, choosing our New Year's destination wasn't so difficult. We wanted to see spectacular fireworks and party with foreign people. Still we also needed to think about our budget. And so we decided to visit LONDON!

After we decided on London we booked our New Year's trip as soon as possible. As expected, a lot of hotels didn't have any rooms left. On we managed to book a flight + hotel (with breakfast) for only 200 euro each!

It is a very short flight from The Netherlands to London. When I could undo the safety belt after take of, it felt like only 5 minutes before we already had to fasten the seatbelt again for the landing. 'That was fast!'
Somehow my boyfriend, Fernando, still managed to sleep on my shoulder during that short amount of time.


Our hotel, Holiday Inn Heathrow, was almost 1 hour away from London city. An Oyster card for the metro was very handy at that moment! *You can buy the Oyster card at every metro station in every card machine*

We came for the fireworks and champagne, but the extra days we had in London were of course used for.. shopping! We found a very cute asian shop called ''Panda Ho''. The whole shop was filled with panda stuff! Panda plushies, panda notebooks, panda shoes, panda bags, panda EVERYTHING! I couldn't leave such a cute store without buying something, so I got myself a very adorable panda plushie, a travel notebook, some cute panda stickers and toothbrush holders.
I named my panda plushie ''panda''.

A must visit in London is M&M World! The building has 4 floors and is filled with M&M merchandise, M&M paintings, M&M statues and of course.. M&M's!!! This colorful building is so much fun to visit!
Our new red M&M jar reminds me of it everyday.

Enough about shopping! Let's get to the best part, the fireworks! We stood right in front of the London Eye, which I heard is the best spot to be. We stood there for more than 3 hours waiting for the big moment. I can't remember a place were I've seen so many people at once. Thousands of people stood there with us. Everybody was waiting for the same moment. No matter where you came from, no matter who you were. We all shared the same feeling in that special moment when the clock was almost at 0:00.
10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!


I couldn't believe my eyes. All those people, thousands of people, counting down the clock, cheering for the New Year and the firework.. it was stunning. 15 minutes long I watched the most beautiful fireworks I had ever seen with big eyes. Everything was perfectly timed on music played by a DJ. And because of the Olympic Games that will be held in London this year, they made it extra special!

We sang, we cried, we laughed, we toasted, we drank, we kissed, we danced and we watched. It was a great start for 2012!!!

Magical Christmas!

I hope that everybody enjoyed the Christmas holidays. This year I really enjoyed visiting the Efteling on the first day of Christmas. The Efteling is a theme park based on Fairy Tales. Every year around this time, the Efteling gives the park a true Winter Wonderland atmosphere. Everywhere you go you will see campfires, winter decoration, live music and special winter food&drink stands. For example we went ice-skating and enjoyed a glass of Glühwein and smokes sausages after.

The fairy tale forest is a traditional must-see! You will see Snow White, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood and so many other Tales when you walk through it. It kind of makes me feel like a small happy kid!

The winter Efteling offers special cards named ‘PiekFijn’. This card includes costs for entrance, parking, a cup of coffee with a small cake, discount at the souvenir shop, a ticket to the ‘Ravelijn Show’ and also Dinner! It is worth the money! Especially Dinner was fantastic! The restaurant was designed as an old place, candles everywhere. It really had magic all over the place. Nice old looking wooden tables and benches. The food was Burgundian style which really suited with the atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was fresh and oh so delicious!! Because it was Burgundian style, you could eat everything with your hands, which also made it fun to eat! The red wine and Christmas present were the cherry on the pie.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t give us much of a Christmas feeling. No snow, no harsh cold and we even had sunshine! It’s a good thing that the Winter Efteling brought us in the Christmas atmosphere. I really enjoyed spending my first day of Christmas together with my boyfriend in this park and I recommend it to everyone!

PADI Open Water Diver

YES!! I did it!!
I'm now officially an Open Water Diver! This is the first step to more underwater adventures! 

Last weekend Fernando and I went to Oostvoorne, which is in the south-west of The Netherlands near the North Sea, with EasyDiving. EasyDiving is a PADI 5 star Dive Center in The Hague. We did four dives and had to do a theory exam. Both of us studied a lot in our own time, so we both passed the exam with high scores. The dives? They were a whole new experience!

For the first time I could breathe underwater. In the beginning it felt a bit weird, but I was soon used to it. I learned to breathe slow and calm underwater. That way I could control my own movements while underwater with just my breathing. Not touching the ground was a bit difficult the first time.
On Sunday, the last day, it was amazing! I didn't touch the ground at all and I had total control over my movements. I saw fighting crabs and loads of fish! The range of vision isn't so good in The Netherlands though. We only had a sight of about four meters. So you have to pay attention or you will lose sight of your buddy!

I am extremely motivated for the next course: Open Water Advanced!

Snorkeling in Cuba!

Snorkeling is a ''must do'' when you're on an island like Cuba. The water is crystal clear and there are many amazing fish to see. A wonderful experience!
Of course there are not only loads of different fish to see, you can also lay eyes on beautiful corals! But: don't forget that some fish and corals are dangerous to touch!

Together with my boyfriend, Fernando, I experienced snorkeling in Cuba at several different snorkeling spots. The most beautiful place where we snorkeled was between Varadero and Cayo Blanco. We were on an boat trip to Cayo Blanco. On our way we made a short stop at a shelter at sea where we could hug and swim with a dolphin. The second stop was at a beautiful coral reef. I had never seen so many beautiful fish in my life! It was like an underwater heaven! All the colors of the coral and fish were amazing! It's too bad that we don't have any photo's of that coral reef. But we also snorkeled at a spot near the beach at Varadero. There was very little coral and less fish to be found, but it still was a lot of fun! Here are some photo's~

Welcome to my Blog!

I finally decided to start a blog about my travel experiences. I've made many movies for YouTube while I was in Japan, but it was just to troublesome to keep it up. Making, editing and uploading the movies just took too much of my time. With this blog I can share my travel photography and stories. I will also publish random facts about the countries that I've visited. AND not to forget! Delicious foods, another yummy looking page you can find on this Blog. Who doesn't love good food? So here I'll also share the delicious and exotic foods from all over the world which I think are worth trying!
